Sermon title: The Greeting with Power

Passage: Eph 1:1-2

Sermon thesis: Let’s greet each other in Christ, our greeting has power.

INTRO: Many greetings in the world: Good morning, Oli Otya. Everyone wants ‘good day’ and ‘wellbeing.’ However, these greetings are just wishful words or habitual greetings because they don’t expect their day will be good upon hearing ‘have a good day.’

Intro Q: What is Biblical greeting that carries true hope and power?

Let’s learn from Paul’s greeting in his letter.

Point 1: Confirm our new identity and title in Jesus Christ

è Apostle of Christ (identity), will of God (there is a purpose)

è God’s people, faithful in Christ (faithfulness is expected)

è From our Father (in the Father’s heart), the Lord Jesus Christ (power of greeting)

è Because you are called to serve, as you stay faithful in Jesus, your greeting has power.

Transition: How our identity affects our greeting? How is it different from ‘good morning’ or ‘good evening’?

Point 2: Grace and peace come from the our Father and the Lord: reason of power.

è Grace and peace. rather than vague 'good' or 'blessing'

è From our Father (He is willing to give us peace for He is our father)

è from the Lord. (He is the Lord of everything. In his name, your greeting has power)

Transition: How to apply to our life?

Point 3: Greet more and more in Jesus Christ: don’t stay alone.

è Every letter of Paul has this greeting.

è Greet one another with grace and peace.

è How? Calling, visiting with prayer and love.

CLOSING

Remember our identity in Christ. We are one body and connected in Jesus Christ.

This week, greet each other with phone call or visiting in the name of the Lord.

Grace and peace will surely come to them. You will see the power of the Lord.
